Efektivitas Isolat Actinomycetes Dari Sampel Tanah Kebun Raya Bogor Dalam Menghambat Pertumbuhan Salmonella Typhi Secara In Vitro

Abstract


Abstract. Actinomycetes is a group of antibiotic-producing bacteria, especially of genus Streptomyces. Actinomycetes produces secondary metabolites with antibacterial activity. Salmonella typhi is a pathogenic bacteria producing endotoxins as component in pathogenicity of infectious diseases like gastroenteritis and typhoid fever. Secondary metabolism product of Actinomycetes has the potential to inhibit growth of S. typhi. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Actinomycetes isolates from soil samples of Kebun Raya Bogor in inhibiting in vitro growth of S. typhi. This study used experimental design with Actinomycetes samples using pour plate method. This study used Muller Hinton Agar (MHA) media with well diffusion method to see clear zones of bacterial growth around the well. There were clear zones from three series of dilutions of 10-4, 10-5, and 10-6 against growth of S. typhi with an average diameter of 64.1 mm, 59.2 mm, and 58.9 mm. One Way Anova test results (α = 0.05) showed significant differences between each concentration of S. typhi. This study proves Actinomycetes has antibacterial activity that can inhibit protein synthesis of S. typhi.
