Abstract

Typhoid fever is a disease caused by Salmonella typhi, which is included into the category of Gram-negative. The use of the third generation antibiotic cephalosporins as therapy of typhoid fever is very important. This study aims to determine cost-effectiveness in the treatment of typhoid fever of children who use antibiotics Ceftriaksone or Cefotaxime based on the total cost of antibiotics and the long-patient in General Hospital of Depok City in 2017-2018, followed by a retrospective through of medical records using the calculation of the ACER (Average Cost Effectiveness Ratio). Based on the research results obtained, the cost of drugs patients using Ceftriaksone Rp 6.893/day with a long hospitalization to 4.93 days. While the cost of drugs patients using Cefotaxime is Rp 5.250/day with long hospitalization 4,29 days. The results for the comparison of cost-effectiveness obtained with p=0,000 (p<0,05) showed there were differences in cost-effectiveness between Ceftriaksone and Cefotaxime. Cefotaxime was cost-effectiveness affected by nutritional Status, gender, age as well as the administration of a dose can affect the length and effectiveness of the therapy on the group of antibiotics are the same
