LITERATURE REVIEW : PENGARUH KEBIASAAN PEKERJA KONSTRUKSI TERHADAP KEJADIAN HIPERTENSI

Nabila Izzani, Reini Syahbani Fatah

Abstract

Construction workers are known for jobs with a workload in the form of development targets expected by management. With so many responses from the public, construction workers are synonymous with the fieldwork environment's habits, such as smoking and drinking coffee. This habit triggers the risk of hypertension, a condition in which blood pressure is above normal limits and can interfere with other organ systems. The risk of hypertension is divided into two types, namely environmental factors and behavioral factors. Environmental factors that affect workers are heat exposure, work duration, work shifts, work stress, and the influence of co-workers. Behavioral factors that affect workers are personality type, lack of understanding related to food and drink control, smoking and coffee consumption habits, and obesity.

The method used for this writing is a literature review by reviewing eight works from previous research related to aligned topics within the last ten years. The sources used are through publication databases, namely Google Scholar, PubMed, and other occupational safety and health journals. By selecting using keywords: construction workers, caffeine consumption, and the incidence of hypertension. Based on the search, the results show that smoking and drinking coffee can cause hypertension. This study concludes that a significant influence related to environmental habits and behavior on construction workers triggers hypertension.
